本标准规定了钢铁上经过处理的锌电镀层的要求。本标准的内容包含需方向电镀生产方提供的资料和电镀前、后热处理的要求。
本标准不适用于：
——未加工成形的钢铁板材、带材和线材的锌电镀层；
——密绕弹簧的锌电镀层；
——非防护装饰性用途的锌电镀层。
本标准没有规定电镀锌前基体金属的表面状态的要求，但基体金属表面的缺陷会对外观和膜层性能产生不利影响。
螺纹件上电镀层的厚度可以通过螺纹等级或装配等尺寸要求加以限定。
