Scope of Application:
This document describes methods for determining the theoretical river energy resources to ensure consistency and accuracy in resource assessments. The method is based on obtaining standard water flow velocity distributions through measurements, numerical models, or a combination of both, which will be used for evaluating the power generation performance of river energy resources.
This document specifies feasible data collection methods and/or modeling techniques for river energy resource assessment, as well as the framework for reporting results.
This document applies to the stage of determining theoretical river energy resources for areas where River Energy Conversion devices (RECs) are to be deployed.
This document does not apply to technical or practical resource assessments, power generation performance evaluations of river energy conversion devices, or studies related to environmental impact assessments or similar research.
