Scope of Application：
This document specifies the design and performance requirements for wheelchair tie-down and occupant restraint systems, as well as product labeling, tags, and the instructions and warnings provided by manufacturers to installers and customers. It describes the relevant test methods.
This document is applicable to wheelchair tie-down and occupant restraint systems using a belt-type occupant restraint system when the wheelchair is used as a forward-facing seat in a motor vehicle.
This document applies to wheelchair tie-down and occupant restraint systems for various types of manual and power wheelchairs, including three-wheeled and four-wheeled electric scooters, used by children and adults weighing 22 kg or more. It also applies to specially modified wheelchairs (SWM) equipped with tie-down and occupant restraint systems.
While this document primarily addresses complete wheelchair tie-down and occupant restraint systems, some provisions also apply to components, parts, and replacement items sold separately.
