本标准规定了无源外科植入物(以下简称植入物)的通用要求。本标准不适用于齿科植入物、齿科修复材料、经牙髓牙根植入物、人工晶状体和有活力动物组织的植入物。
关于安全方面本标准规定了预期性能、设计属性、材料、设计评估、制造、灭菌、包装和制造商提供信息的要求以及验证符合这些要求的试验。
其他试验在二级和三级标准中给出。
注： 本标准并未对植入物制造商的质量管理体系进行要求但制造商若拥有符合ISO 13485规定的质量管理体系对确保植入物预期性能的实现将起到较大帮助作用。
