本文件适用于镁及镁合金中锡、铍、铜、镍、钛含量的测定，测定范围见表1。新亚铜灵萃取光度法适用于镁及镁合金中铜含量的测定，新亚铜灵分光光度法适用于镁合金中铜含量的测定，草酰二酰肼分光光度法适用于不含锆的镁及镁合金中铜含量的测定。
铜含量为0.002 0%~0.20%时，采用新亚铜灵萃取光度法作为仲裁方法；铜含量大于0.20%时，采用新亚铜灵分光光度法作为仲裁方法。
