本文件规定了验证由制造商所规定的激光跟踪仪性能的验收检测规范，方法是测量参考检测长度;还规定了用户定期再验证激光跟踪仪性能的复检检测规范。
本文件规定的验收检测和复检检测适用于探测系统为反射靶标或反射靶标与探针/光学测距传感器组合的激光跟踪仪。本文件规定的验收检测和复检检测也可适用于：
——单独或同时使用干涉仪（IFM）、绝对测距仪（ADM）测量的激光跟踪仪；
——使用合作目标的其他球坐标测量系统的相关性能检测，如使用合作靶标的激光雷达系统。
注：没有跟踪目标的系统，如不使用合作靶标的激光雷达系统，不检测探测性能。
本文件未明确适用于不使用球坐标系的测量系统，但是相关方面可协商将本文件应用于此类系统。
本文件规定了:
——性能要求可由激光跟踪仪的制造商或用户规定；
——用于证明规定要求的验收检测和复检检测的执行方式；
