本标准规定了图书馆和档案馆纸质文献的装订方法与装订材料的要求。
<br/ 本标准适用于对耐久性与耐用性有特殊要求的图书、期刊、连续出版物与档案文献的装订。
<br/ 本标准适用于下列一般工序：出版物或非出版资料的初次精装装订，论著、期刊、连续出版物和其他纸质文献的精装再装订，以及其他需要采用这种保护方式的文献的装订。
本标准不适用于具有高度艺术与历史价值的文献的装订，也不适用于因文献本身物理特性而不能按本标准进行的装订。
