本文件规定了母材厚度不小于6 mm的金属材料熔化焊焊接接头的半自动或全自动相控阵超声检测。
本文件适用于母材及焊缝均为低合金或细晶钢板材、管材和容器等全熔透焊接接头，其他材质焊接接头的检测也可参考使用。
本文件给出了相控阵超声技术检测熔化焊焊接接头时，检测、定位、定量和表征不连续的优点和局限性。在制造过程检测、役前检测和在役检测中，相控阵超声技术可独立或与其他无损检测方法或技术组合使用。
本文件规定了4个检测等级，不同等级对应不同的缺欠检出率。
本文件规定可基于长度与最高回波幅度（当量反射体尺寸），或长度与高度评价不连续。
本文件未规定不连续的验收等级。
本文件不适用于ISO 10893-8、ISO 10893-11和ISO 3183规定的钢产品制造过程中焊缝的自动相控阵超声检测。
