本标准规定了8个类别、2种型别(层与层之间有粘合的软管结构和层与层之间无粘合的软管结构）公称内径尺寸范围为3.2 ～31.5的钢丝或合成纱线增强的液压软管和软管组合件的要求。每个类别所有规格的软管均具有单一的最大工作压力。这些软管适用于ISO 6743-4界定的HH、HL、HM、HR和HV液压流体，其中A级和B级软管的适用温度范围为-40 ℃～+100 ℃， C级和D级软管的适用温度范围为-40 ℃～+120 ℃。
本标准不包括对终端接头的要求，仅限于软管和软管组合件的性能。软管组合件的最大工作压力取决于组合件最大工作压力中的最低值。
