本文件规定了适用于在运输、贮存或使用期间可能遭受滴水、冲水、浸水或高压水影响的产品的试验方法，是考核产品的外壳、遮盖物和密封件在水试验后或在试验期间能否保证设备和元件良好的工作性能。本文件所规定的试验方法不能当作一般的腐蚀试验。因严酷等级太高，其他文件中确定的水试验一般不用于模拟自然降雨。因此，本文件除包含一般水试验之外，还包括以自然条件为基础的人工淋雨试验，但通常情况下不考虑有强风速的自然降雨。本文件中的导则给出了试验的适用性和试验严酷等级的选择。
