本文件确立了根据GB/T 11026.1和GB/T 11026.2获得的试验数据得出材料相对温度指数所需的试验和计算程序。这些计算程序是对GB/T 11026.3中计算程序的补充。
本文件也提供了无外推情况下，对单一固定时间和温度的热老化的评估指南。
原则上能通过破坏性试验、非破坏性试验以及检查试验获得试验数据，通常采用破坏性试验获得数据，因为所有试样在过了中值时间之后，到达终点时间之前的某一个点，试验可能已经停止，所以从非破坏性试验或检查试验中获得的数据可能是不完整的(见GB/T 11026.1)。
本文件根据热老化性能，为绝缘材料的耐热等级初步分级提供了指导。
虽然电气绝缘材料的耐热等级与电气绝缘系统的耐热等级没有直接关系，但电气绝缘系统的耐热等级分类遵循本部分提出的相同概念。当热应力是主要的老化因素时，本文件的计算程序适用于确定电气绝缘系统的耐热等级。
